Mine where actually fine with it and just shrugged it off so I never went OCD crazy over anything like how some of my classmates acted when told to stop. I still remember how my classmates would cry and rage that their parents confiscated a band keychain or cassette. Well, that was my take anyway, I realize the story was first written in the 1990 before social media but I got a VERY strong boyband vibe from it, specifically backstreet & new kids on the block. It's fine to love something passionately even if it was a fad. In the end all trends fade but that doesn't mean you should be embarrassed by liking something.
